Mission Statement
Friends of Spindrift (Friends) is a volunteer organization created to work with the Nature Conservancy to continue restoration and preservation of the unique and fragile ecosystem of Spindrift Preserve. This is consistent with the deed restrictions placed on the land by the Bordens when they donated the property to the Nature Conservancy. Our service is intended to honor the vision and memory of long-time residents of Muir Beach, Eleanor and Charles Borden.
About
Friends is a loose association formed to enable limited access to The Nature Conservancy’s Spindrift Point Preserve for interested individuals while maintaining the ecological integrity of the property.
Friends is composed of people who are interested in having access to Spindrift and who are willing, when there, to volunteer to help with various activities to maintain Spindrift’s unique ecological qualities.
Friends administers its access to Spindrift through an on-line website to ensure that the number of people on the Preserve will be managed so as to preserve the ecological values and solitude, consistent with restrictions placed on the land by the Bordens, the original donors.
Friends is responsible for ensuring that its members are knowledgeable about Spindrift, comply with The Nature Conservancy’s use rules, sign liability waivers and work with The Nature Conservancy to ensure that the Bordens’ goals are achieved.
